FOREST CERTIFICATION

The first contact |
When a forest owner or company wants to get certified, he/she/it must get contact an accredited certifying body, which will send to the applicant a SFM Certification Application form, or a CdC Certification Application form. |

Pre-audit(optional) |
A pre-audit is an optional but recommended process. It allows an estimation of compliance levels against a standard, thus allowing an estimation of the work need to obtain certification. Furthermore, it allows to anticipate the costs of the final audit and of certification in general. |

Public Consultation |
At least thirty days before the final audit, a public consultation process must be initiated by the Certifying Body, which will contact all stakeholders of the applicant certification. |

Final Certification aUDIT |
The Certifying Body evaluates the applicant against the relevant CERTFOR standard Principles and Criteria. |

Communication to CERTFORCHILE |
Upon approval of the audit report, the certifying body informs CERTFORCHILE about the positive certification decision. The report is made public. |

Follow-up |
Annual follow-up audits will be conducted in order to verify that SFM compliance levels are maintained or improved by the certified owner or company. The report is made public. |
