Origin and Evolution of the Corporation

Globalization of environmental concerns, has been importantly affecting international trade for forest products and demanding compliance with environmental and social sustainability. Fundación Chile and the Chilean Forest Institute INFOR, with their long experience and prestige in research, development and forest consultancy, started in the year 2000 an initiative that gave birth to CERTFOR. The initiative relied the support from the Innovation and Development Fund of the Chilean Corporation for the Promotion of Production (CORFO).

The project began in 2001 and was assisted by international consultants of extensive and valuable experience in the development and implementation of Forest Certification standards.

The aims for the project were multiple and ambitious. Nevertheless, so far they all have been fulfilled.
