SUCCESSFUL COURSE FOR INTERNAL AUDITORS FOR CoC 2009

From 16 to 18 of December was held in Santiago the CERTFOR Chain of Custody for Auditors Training course. This course was targeted for those looking to become Internal Auditors and Leaders Auditors for the CERTFOR / PEFC Certification System.
CERTFORCHILE thanks each participant by the enthusiasm and have contributed to the pleasant atmosphere of learning and camaraderie that developed during the days of the course.

VIVE! MAGAZINE IS NOW ECOLOGICAL

The publication of the magazine reaffirmed his commitment to VTR (owner of the magazine) to the environment through working with Morgan Impresores who have received PEFC Chain of Custody certification, which ensures good reforestation and forest management used for the manufacture of paper for the Journal Vive!. This magazine is the largest circulation in the country.

GREEN STAR RATING TO FOCUS ON LEGAL TIMBER

The Green Building Council of Australia has cited the use of illegally logged timber to justify a policy change that allows timber certified by the Australian Forestry Standard to gain ‘’green’’ points when used in housing and commercial buildings.
The GBCA’s revised Green Star timber credit scheme, effective from January 1, recognises the Australian Forestry Standard (AFS) alongside the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

PEFC CERTIFIED CHRISTMAS TREE FOR THE VATICAN CITY

In what is now an annual tradition at the Vatican, a Christmas tree has been delivered to Rome which will take pride of place in St. Peter’s Square. The tree comes from a PEFC-certified forest in the Walloon Region of Belgium. PEFC Italy will be offsetting the CO2 emissions resulting from the tree’s transportation and lighting and so at the official ceremony when the lights are switched on, Pope Benedict XVI will receive a truly environmentally friendly Christmas gift.

PEFC INTERNATIONAL APPOINTS NEW PRESIDENT

William Street was elected new Chairman of PEFC International on the organization’s General Assembly held in Paris between 11 and 13 November. For the first time in history that a union leader agrees to a position in a global organization for forest certification.
