MEETING OF THE CERTFORCHILE SUPERIOR COUNCIL
On August the 28, the third meeting of the superior council of the CERTFORCHILE Corporation was made, in this oportunity, the themes corresponding to the CERTFOR Forest Certification System were analyzed. Also, Mr. Felix Contreras was invited to share with the superior council his experience about the first implementation of the CERTFOR certification system.

CERTFOR REALIZED COURSE OF FOREST MANAGING SUSTENTABLE
Between 20 to August 22 was held on CERTFOR Auditors Training Course for SFM. The workshop reviewed as major themes Standards Certification of SFM for plantations, and the Native Forest Certification Standard Group.

PROMOTION FOREST CERTIFICATION SYSTEM CERTFOR/PEFC
During the month of July the promotion for the Forest Certification System CERTFOR/PEFC has been continued. For this, Mills, prints and paper suppliers were visited. The purpose of these visits has been publicizing the CERTFOR system and show the benefits of the CERTFOR/PEFC certification.

BURGO GROUP: NEW CERTIFICATION PEFC
Avezzano and Sora are the last mills of the group that obteined the PEFC Chain of Custody forest certification, for the purchase of wood and pulp from certified sources.

UK: PEFC CERTIFICATION IN THE TRADER PAPER
The use of paper certificate has increased over the past year; mills, printing, trader paper have opted for PEFC certification strongly in Europe and the United States.
Between the largest traders paper in the UK certified under the seal PEFC emphasize: PaperCo, Robert Home Group, Antalis, James McNaughton Group, Howard Smith Paper Group, Premier Paper Group, Denmaur Papers, Elliot Baxter, WWF UK Paper Sales, GF Smith & Son, Warren Board Sales.

UNIMAC GRAPHICS BECOMES TRIPLE CHAIN OF CUSTODY CERTIFIED
UNIMAC Graphics, a full service web, sheetfed and digital printing company, announced today it has become a Triple Chain of Custody Certified green printer. UNIMAC Graphics has now obtained (SFI Chain of Custody) Sustainable Forestry Initiative and (PEFC Chain of Custody) Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification through SGS an accredited sustainable forestry certifier.

NETHERLANDS JOINS PEFC INTERNATIONAL
PEFC International is pleased to welcome PEFC Netherlands as its 34th member into its organisation. With only seven percent of its land surface covered by forests, the Netherlands are dependent on the import of wood, pulp and paper products to meet its needs.

FIRST PEFC PROJECT CHAIN OF CUSTODY CERTIFICATE AWARDED
In July, the Lighthouse building at the Zaragoza 08 Expo became the first construction project in the world to be certified to the PEFC standard. The developers, U.T.E Pavilion Initiatives, were awarded chain of custody for this remarkable project as all the structural timber elements of the building a total of 311 cubic meters, were sourced from PEFC-certified forests.

EUROPEAN COMMISSION RECOGNITION FOR PEFC
In its recently published Green Public Procurement guidelines, the European Commission recognises PEFC as one of the certification schemes providing purchasers with assurances of legal and sustainable sourcing of virgin fibre for copying and graphic paper.

PRINTWEEK AT VANGUARD OF HAYMARKET’S GREEN PUBLISHING DRIVE
Haymarket has announced that from this week’s issue, PrintWeek will be printed on PEFC certified paper, with the publisher’s entire UK magazine portfolio set to carry the FSC or PEFC logo by summer 2008.

OLDEST AND LARGEST US TREE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM ENDORSED
Family forest owners in the United States, who own nearly two-thirds of the country’s forest lands, today cheered the endorsement of the American Tree Farm System (ATFS) by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC). This step that will open the door to new green markets for wood that is sustainably produced on their land.
