OUR SYSTEM KEEPS GROWING, 5 MORE COMPANIES ENTER SUSTAINABLE FOREST CERTIFICATION

FORESTAL SANTA BLANCA LTDA.
Forestal Santa Blanca Ltda., company in the business of forestation, sawmilling, re-manufacturing and commercialization of Pinus Radiata, develops its activities taking into account several existing interests in the national market and international market. The company’s main national customer is Construmart.

DISTRIBUIDORA PAPELES INDUSTRIALES S.A.
Distributes and commercializes a wide stock of paper, cards and paper products from providers and mills in Brazil, Finland, Germany and Indonesia among others. Some of their important products include Chamex and HP copy paper.

IMPRESORA PRINTER S.A
Impresora Printer S.A. has consolidated as a solid-prestige holding company thanks to their unceasing task in productivity process improvement which seeks to offer absolute quality to their customers. VTR is one of the big companies which uses their printings.

CORZA S.A.
Company in the business of the production of several different wood products and leader in moldings and integral solutions for construction and decoration. The wide variety of their products sold by Sodimac and Homecenter Sodimac is to be noted.

SUNDOOR'S S.A.
Mostly produces solid doors and windows with Douglas Fir and Pinus Radiata. This company is the main provider of Sodimac and Homecenter Sodimac and holds an important appearance for those products.

METSÄLIITTO IN RUSSIA EARNS PEFC CERTIFICATION
National Forest Certification Council of Russia granted the country’s first PEFC certificate to Metsäliitto Group subsidiary OOO Metsäliitto Podporozhye in March. The certificate is for a 200,000-hectare forest holding, which the company is leasing in the Leningrad region.

LIGNUM MAGAZINE IS PRINTED ON CERTIFIED PAPER
Since this new edition (March), thanks to an agreement with World Color Chile printing house, LIGNUM magazine will be printed on PEFC (Program for Endorsement of Forest Schemes) certified paper, leading non-governmental international organization in promoting the sustainable management forests.

PEFC Netherlands was founded on May 8th 2008. It received official membership of the PEFC Council on September 1st 2008. The aim of PEFC Netherlands is to increase the use of timber and paper from sustainably managed forests. This will be achieved by promoting the PEFC label, increase the number of certified companies and increase the Dutch certified forest area.

Currently, no Dutch forests have been PEFC certified. The National PEFC Forum is in the process of standard setting. The concept standard will be delivered in the beginning of 2010.

Chain of Custody certification is of more importance since The Netherlands is a trading country. Since PEFC Netherlands started as an official NGB in September 2008, the number of Dutch companies with Chain of Custody certification has risen from 90 to 179 (as of November 2009).

EVOLUTION AND TRENDS

It is expected that the first forest owners will be certified by the end of 2010 or beginning 2011, depending upon the successful endorsement of PEFC Netherlands by PEFC Council.

PEFC AND THE BIG TRADEMARKS

In Holland there are not many brands that occupy the PEFC Logo in the country given the short time the system is working, despite that there are brands that occupy it, like National Geographic, Quest Scientific Magazine.
